Brazilian asset manager Patria Investimentos has sold its largest solar park in Colombia, the Puerta de Oro Solar Park, to Isagen, a Colombian energy company controlled by Brookfield Renewable Partners. The sale comes after Patria announced the commercial operation of the 83 MW Puerta de Oro Solar Park in July 2026, which was developed with a $255 million financing package secured in April 2025. Patria, a significant infrastructure investor in Colombia with $2.2 billion in assets under management in the country, has been actively involved in highway concessions and infrastructure projects, aligning with its focus on stable business environments and well-structured concession programs across Latin America.
The divestment by Patria aligns with Isagen's ongoing strategy to expand its portfolio of medium to large-scale photovoltaic generation plants. Isagen, which also acquired Sol de las Ciénagas S.A.S. (developer of the Caracolí I solar park) from Canadian Solar and Bosques Solares de Los Llanos 8 S.A.S. from Solaer, is pursuing growth in renewable energy. Isagen currently operates 27 production centers with a total capacity of 3,100 MW and reported revenues of $3.4 billion in 2025.
This transaction follows a busy period for Isagen and its parent company, Brookfield Renewable. Brookfield Renewable recently sold a portfolio of non-strategic solar and small hydroelectric assets from Isagen in Colombia for approximately $590 million, with $220 million net to Brookfield Renewable. Buyers in those deals included Termoyopal Generación 2 S.A.S. and BTG Pactual Commodities S.A. These strategic moves highlight a dynamic period of asset reshuffling and consolidation within Colombia's renewable energy sector.
