Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced a cabinet reshuffle on Monday, September 14, 2026, replacing Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa with his deputy, Suahasil Nazara. Purbaya had served as finance minister since September of the previous year. The appointment of Suahasil Nazara as the new finance chief took place at the presidential palace in Jakarta.

Suahasil Nazara is an economist who has been serving as the vice finance minister since 2019. His appointment was formalized through Presidential Decree Number 97 P Year 2026, for the remainder of the 2024-2029 term. During his inauguration, Suahasil Nazara took an oath to uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and diligently execute laws and regulations for the benefit of the nation.

The change in leadership comes shortly after Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa had initiated a significant reshuffle of employees within the Ministry of Finance the previous week. Many of the affected employees were from the Directorate General of Taxes and the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. This move by President Prabowo is being closely watched by investors, particularly given the new finance minister's background and experience.
