Saudi Arabia announced that recent attacks on its critical energy infrastructure have disrupted oil and gas production, impacting global markets already strained by the ongoing Iran war. The affected sites include facilities for production, transportation, refining, petrochemicals, and power generation.

The attacks, which targeted oil, gas, and electricity sites in Riyadh, the Eastern Province, and Yanbu Industrial City, resulted in a reduction of the kingdom’s oil production capacity by approximately 600,000 barrels per day. This disruption was acknowledged by an official source at the Ministry of Energy, cited by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

One Saudi national from industrial security personnel was killed, and seven others were injured in these incidents. The official emphasized that such continued attacks would lead to reduced supply, hinder recovery efforts, and contribute to increased volatility in the oil market, thereby affecting the security of supply for consuming nations. Oil prices have been observed to climb in response to these developments, further exacerbating market concerns amid broader geopolitical tensions.
