Trump posted on Truth Social that he agreed to cancel the attack for "the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran." He also noted that "The Country of Israel joins me in this commitment." This announcement follows a period where the U.S. had reportedly been "locked and loaded and ready to go" against Iran with significant military power.
The President's decision comes after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly spoke with Trump earlier on Saturday, cautioning against further strikes on Iran. While Trump suggested progress towards an agreement, Iran has not yet offered a public reaction to his announcement. The proposed deal aims to resolve the five-month-old conflict, focusing on denuclearization and free passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
