Adam Roosevelt, grandson of former President Franklin D. Roosevelt, has put his 3,400-acre Texas ranch on the market for $21.5 million. The property, known as the Roosevelt Ranch, is located in both Gillespie and Blanco counties, approximately 50 miles west of Austin. Mr. Roosevelt purchased the initial 100 acres of the ranch in 2008 for about $650,000 and has since expanded it through various acquisitions, investing millions in improvements.
The ranch features a custom-built, 7,000-square-foot main house completed in 2012, offering six bedrooms and views of the surrounding Hill Country. Other amenities on the property include two swimming pools, two guest houses, a 10-stall horse barn, a helicopter pad, and a substantial water system with three wells and a 1.5-mile pipeline to a nearby creek for irrigation. Wildlife on the ranch includes white-tailed deer and wild turkeys.
Mr. Roosevelt, 52, a former executive at Sotheby's International Realty, is selling the property to relocate to a smaller ranch in Texas and spend more time at his residence in South Carolina. The ranch was initially listed for sale about a year ago for $24.9 million. The listing is held by Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty. The property's value is enhanced by its historical connection to the Roosevelt family and its extensive infrastructure, which supports both residential and recreational uses.
