Bass Pro Shops has acquired the iconic Cheeca Lodge, a historic fishing and sporting resort located in the Florida Keys. The acquisition was made through the company’s nature-based resorts division, though the terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cheeca Lodge is known for welcoming generations of visitors to Islamorada's waters and natural beauty.

Cheeca Lodge, which opened in 1946, will now be united with the World Wide Sportsman Store and Marina, founded in 1967 by George Hommell, Jr. and Billy Pate. The resort offers various amenities, including three tropical swimming pools, a full-service spa, a 9-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed par-3 golf course, a 525-foot fishing pier, fitness and meeting facilities, and upscale waterfront dining.

Bass Pro Shops' founder, Johnny Morris, who is a passionate angler and conservationist, expressed excitement for the enhanced resort to serve as an adventure outpost connecting visitors to the natural treasures of the Everglades and Florida Keys. The company plans to preserve the authentic character and heritage of Cheeca Lodge while committing to fisheries conservation and promoting the Sportfishing Capital of the World.
