Stokke Industri, an investment company owned by Rune Stokke and his family, is reportedly exploring strategic alternatives for its minority stake in Jets AS. Jets AS, headquartered in Hareid, Norway, specializes in vacuum toilet systems that significantly reduce water usage, with applications in ships, trains, and buildings. The company employs over 100 people.
Stokke Industri initially acquired its stake in Jets AS in October 2018. At the time, Rune Stokke stated that this investment would be among Stokke Industri's largest and its most significant in the industrial sector. He expressed admiration for Jets AS, highlighting it as a company they had long respected. The sellers of the stake included Marin Eiendom AS and individual family members, with Marin Teknikk CEO Svein Rune Gjerde being the largest owner of Marin Eiendom.
The Stokke family previously sold 92% of Stokke AS, known for its baby products, for approximately $2.75 billion to Korean investors at the end of 2013. That sale underscores the family's history of significant divestments. While the specific price paid for the Jets AS stake in 2018 was not disclosed, Rune Stokke confirmed it was a substantial investment for Stokke Industri.
