Samsung Group companies, including Samsung Electronics, are collectively investing $1 billion into Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure company established by global investment firm KKR and backed by Nvidia. This investment deepens Samsung's involvement in the expanding artificial intelligence infrastructure market. Samsung Electronics will contribute $500 million, with the remaining $500 million coming from five other Samsung affiliates: Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance.

Helix Digital Infrastructure, launched in June, focuses on developing and managing AI-enabling infrastructure, including hyperscale data centers, power generation and distribution, and fiber-optic networks. The company is led by Adam Selipsky, former CEO of Amazon Web Services. Other founding investors in Helix include KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, Nvidia, and U.S. power company Vistra. This latest capital infusion from Samsung builds on more than $10 billion already committed to Helix's strategy, bringing the total secured capital for the platform to over $11 billion.

The investment strategy targets both data center deployment and the underlying power infrastructure, acknowledging that power availability is a significant bottleneck in AI infrastructure. Samsung's affiliates will leverage their diverse capabilities, ranging from semiconductors and cooling systems to data center construction and batteries, to support Helix's global AI infrastructure build-out. This move allows Samsung to transition from primarily a hardware component supplier to an active architect in the global AI infrastructure ecosystem, capitalizing on the massive multi-sector ecosystem driven by the rapid expansion of AI data centers.
