The dollar is poised for its most significant rally since March, fueled by strong US economic data, a hawkish Federal Reserve, and surging bond yields. This momentum has pushed the dollar to multi-month peaks, with further appreciation anticipated.
The dollar's strength has resulted in the euro falling to a two-month low of $1.1370, marking its third consecutive weekly decline. Similarly, the British pound is trading near a three-month trough, and the Japanese yen is hovering near a three-week low, raising concerns about potential intervention by the Bank of Japan.
Analysts from HSBC noted that further appreciation of the dollar looks likely. This rally follows a 10% decline in the dollar last year, its worst performance since 2017, and a four-year low at the end of January. However, it has since rebounded by 6%, with momentum now accelerating sharply.
