Canaccord Genuity, the Canadian financial services group, is reportedly close to finalizing the sale of its UK wealth management arm to a consortium led by private equity firms Warburg Pincus and Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R). The deal is expected to value the division at more than 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion). This potential sale comes after Canaccord Genuity confirmed in October 2025 that it was evaluating options for its British wealth management business, meeting with potential counterparties like CVC and Advent.
This move aligns with broader trends in the wealth management sector, which has seen increased dealmaking activity. Canaccord Wealth, which manages 37.2 billion pounds ($45.6 billion) in assets, had previously attracted interest from other major private equity firms including Bain Capital and Centerbridge. Fenchurch Advisory, a London-based boutique investment bank, has been advising Canaccord Genuity on the potential sale since at least November 2024.
The sale would represent a significant strategic shift for Canaccord Genuity, despite its global wealth management division delivering a record $1.1 billion in revenue and growing client assets by 22.8% to $147.8 billion in fiscal year 2026. The company had initially dismissed rumors of a sale in late 2024, only to acknowledge evaluating options by October 2025. The UK wealth unit alone contributed over $512 million in revenue and managed $74.1 billion in client assets in fiscal 2026.
