Indonesia's finance ministry, under the leadership of newly appointed Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara, announced it will continue the policy of placing 200 trillion rupiah ($11.27 billion) of the government's reserve fund in state-owned commercial banks. This policy is set to remain in effect until July 2027, as stated by a deputy finance minister on Friday, September 18, 2026.

This cash placement strategy was a hallmark policy of the former finance minister, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who was dismissed earlier in the week. Deputy Minister Juda Agung confirmed the continuation of the policy during a press conference held alongside the new Finance Minister, Suahasil Nazara. Nazara, a seasoned financial expert and former deputy over the past seven years, is regarded as market-friendly.

The decision to maintain this policy comes shortly after a significant shake-up in the finance ministry. Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa's departure was the second surprise change in the ministry within approximately a year. The continuity of the cash placement policy suggests an effort to maintain stability and reassure investors despite the recent leadership changes. The exchange rate used for calculation was $1 = 17,743.0000 rupiah.
