Heavy rainfall across northern and central Vietnam has led to significant damage and loss of life. Three members of the same family were killed in a landslide in Đà Bắc Commune, Phú Thọ province. The severe weather has also caused widespread flooding, affecting more than 16,000 homes, with Thanh Hóa reporting 8,419 inundated houses, Ninh Bình 4,787, and Hà Nội 2,204.
The agricultural sector has been heavily impacted, with nearly 25,000 hectares of crops and aquaculture damaged or submerged. Specifically, 22,499 hectares of rice, crops, and vegetables were affected, with Ninh Bình accounting for 12,121 hectares. Additionally, 1,175.62 hectares of aquaculture production areas, predominantly in Thanh Hóa, were inundated.
Infrastructure has also sustained considerable damage, including 1,999 meters of irrigation canals and 15 schools. Transportation routes have been severely disrupted, with 11 landslide sites and 30 flooded areas causing traffic issues on national and provincial roads. The Hà Nội–Hồ Chí Minh City railway experienced significant flooding, necessitating road transport for passengers through affected sections. Local authorities have initiated evacuations, relocating 1,712 households to safer areas, and are implementing measures to monitor water levels and ensure public safety.
