Dario Vitale, a former Versace designer, has been named the new creative director for Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani accessories. This appointment is significant as Vitale is the first individual outside of the Armani family to hold such a position within the company. The announcement follows the death of Giorgio Armani last year, and marks a crucial step in the brand's succession planning.

Vitale, who previously worked at Miu Miu for 15 years and had a brief, yet impactful, stint as chief creative officer at Versace, will be responsible for both men's and women's collections for Emporio Armani, as well as all Giorgio Armani accessories. His first collection is anticipated to debut at the January fashion week. This move comes amid speculation about the Armani Group's future, as Giorgio Armani's will dictates that up to 45% of the company could be sold to a luxury-goods buyer within five years of his passing, with LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, EssilorLuxottica, or L'Oréal cited as potential investors.

The appointment of Vitale is seen as a strategic decision by the Armani Group's current leadership, including Silvana Armani, head of womenswear design, and Leo Dell'Orco, in charge of menswear and chairman of the board. Both expressed confidence that Vitale's established talent will bring a fresh yet authentic interpretation to Emporio Armani's spirit of freedom and experimentation. Giuseppe Marsocci, CEO and managing director, also highlighted the appointment as an important milestone that strengthens the creative organization and reaffirms the group's commitment to evolution while staying true to Armani's vision.
