A construction crane collapsed in Miami's Brickell financial district on Monday morning, injuring at least four people. The incident occurred at the corner of Brickell Bay Drive and Southeast 12th Street. Rescue crews transported the injured individuals to a local hospital following a "complex rescue operation."
The collapse also caused significant damage to three vehicles, with one BMW SUV catching fire. The driver of the BMW SUV managed to escape unharmed, and officials confirmed no other occupants were inside the car. Two construction workers were initially trapped, with fire crews successfully freeing one and continuing efforts to rescue the second.
This incident adds to a series of crane-related accidents in Miami-Dade, including a previous crane arm collapse into a rooftop pool in Brickell on August 7, 2026, and a large crane collapse in Hialeah in April. The construction industry in Miami has been under increased scrutiny following the 2021 Champlain Towers South collapse, which killed 98 people.
