He decided to undertake an epic golf adventure: playing GOLF's Top 100 Courses You Can Play in less than a year. Belk, who enjoys travel and views golf courses as "epic destinations," aims to see many parts of the country through this endeavor.
This project is financially significant, with Belk budgeting $85,000 for its completion. The logistical challenges are also considerable, including crowded tee sheets and unpredictable weather. He began his journey in April and has already completed 12 courses, with 88 remaining. His itinerary is dictated by seasonal changes, starting in the Southeast in springtime, moving to the Midwest for summer, and planning for California and Hawaii in winter.
Belk has several advantages, including his brother, a pilot with access to a plane, which allows for efficient travel. Additionally, over half of the Top 100 courses are concentrated in just seven states: California, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Oregon, Michigan, and Wisconsin, simplifying some travel logistics. Belk states he is in an ideal life stage for this adventure, without children or a job, preferring to undertake it now rather than waiting until he is 60.
