Pam Kaur, HSBC's Group Chief Financial Officer, has announced her intention to step down from her role in 2027 and will not seek re-election as a director at the company's 2027 Annual General Meeting. Following her departure as CFO and Executive Director, Kaur will assume an advisory role to support the Group CEO on strategic projects and ensure a smooth transition to her successor. Her official retirement date will be confirmed but will be no later than the 2027 AGM.
Kaur, who joined HSBC in April 2013 and became the bank's first female CFO, expressed pride in her contributions to HSBC's strategic transformation and strong financial position, stating that 2027 feels like the right time to pursue new leadership opportunities. She will be eligible for annual incentive awards for the 2026 and pro-rated 2027 performance years. Additionally, Kaur has been granted "Good Leaver" status for her deferred and long-term incentive awards, contingent on her not joining competitor financial services firms before the awards vest.
HSBC's board has initiated a search process for Kaur's successor, considering both internal and external candidates. Kaur's appointment as CFO was effective January 1, 2025, a role for which she earned a base salary of £803,000 per annum, a fixed pay allowance of £1,085,000 per annum, and a pension allowance of £80,300 per annum. Prior to becoming CFO, she served as Group Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. This departure marks another significant change for HSBC, which recently underwent a major restructuring to streamline operations and focus on Asia.
