The fall 2026 movie season is anticipated to offer a diverse range of films, from big-budget blockbusters to potential awards contenders. While not expected to reach the record-breaking box office success of the summer, which saw hits like Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” crossing the $1.1 billion mark worldwide, the upcoming slate includes major sequels, star-powered vehicles, and intriguing smaller films.
Key releases include “Digger,” a satirical black comedy starring Tom Cruise as a powerful man who must save the world from a disaster he caused. Directed by five-time Oscar winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu, this film also features Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, and Sandra Hüller. Another highly anticipated movie is “The Social Reckoning,” written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, which serves as a follow-up to the 2010 film “The Social Network.” Jeremy Strong plays Mark Zuckerberg, with Mikey Madison as whistleblower Frances Haugen, and Jeremy Allen White as reporter Jeff Horwitz.
The fall also brings “Practical Magic 2,” a legacy sequel to the 1998 film, with Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing reprising their roles. Directed by Susanne Bier, the film sees the Owens sisters trying to end a family curse.
