The ice pop market has evolved significantly, moving beyond a simple seasonal treat into a dynamic segment within the broader frozen desserts industry. This transformation is driven by convenience, portability, and changing consumer preferences, with global consumption estimated at 18-20 billion units annually in 2025.

Within the frozen novelty category, which saw a 3.7% year-over-year gain to $8.6 billion in sales for the 52 weeks ending December 28, 2025, JonnyPops and GoodPop have emerged as major players. JonnyPops experienced an 88% year-over-year dollar sales increase, reaching $162 million, and an 86% increase in unit sales to 24 million. GoodPop, an Austin-based organic popsicle company, generated over $63 million in gross sales in 2024 and is sold in more than 10,000 locations.

While the overall ice pop novelties subcategory saw a 13% year-over-year decline in dollar sales to $223 million for the 52 weeks ending December 28, 2026, both GoodPop and JonnyPops defied this trend. GoodPop achieved a 107% year-over-year dollar sales increase, reaching $4.6 million, and a 68% unit sales rise. JonnyPops' dollar sales in this subcategory accelerated by 43% year-over-year to $3.3 million, with a 47% unit sales increase.

JonnyPops, known for its natural ingredients and flavors like Rainbow Superpower and Very Berry Lemonade, is estimated by Forbes to have annual sales of $100 million, with 60% occurring during the warmer months. The company, which has been profitable since its first year, boasts an estimated 30% net margin and is a top seller among natural grocers' frozen novelties nationwide. GoodPop, while generally profitable, was an exception in 2024 and is projected to return to profitability in 2026.
