Motorola Solutions completed its acquisition of D-Fend Solutions for $1.5 billion in an all-cash deal on August 20, 2026. This acquisition, initially announced on June 1, 2026, highlights a significant trend in the counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) market, moving away from jamming technologies towards radio frequency (RF) cyber-takeover methods. D-Fend's flagship product, EnforceAir, takes control of hostile drones and lands them safely without relying on kinetic interception, gunfire, or signal jamming.
The deal values D-Fend at approximately eight times its estimated 2026 revenue of $185 million, reflecting strong investor confidence in its growth trajectory. The company has demonstrated a compound annual growth rate exceeding 50% for three consecutive years and has deployed thousands of units across more than 30 countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia. D-Fend's leadership, including CEO Zohar Halachmi, will remain with the company, with Halachmi also assuming the role of Motorola SVP, Counter-Drone Solutions.
Motorola financed the acquisition with a $300 million term loan through Motorola Solutions Finance EMEA. This strategic move positions D-Fend as a critical mitigation layer within Motorola's broader ecosystem of radios, video, and command-center software, targeting police departments, airports, and critical infrastructure operators globally. The acquisition aligns with industry projections that the global C-UAS market will surge from $6.6 billion in 2025 to over $20 billion by 2030, indicating a substantial year-over-year growth of over 25%.
