Polymarket has officially launched perpetual futures trading, expanding its platform beyond prediction markets. This new offering includes up to 20x leverage and covers a wide range of assets, including cryptocurrencies, stocks, indices, and commodities. This move signifies a broader push into multi-asset leveraged trading by the platform.

The full rollout of Polymarket's perpetual contract functionality occurred recently, building on an earlier partial launch on July 9, 2026. That initial launch covered 10 assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, gold, and the S&P 500, also with up to 20x leverage. Today's announcement confirms the comprehensive availability of these perpetual futures.

Kalshi, another prediction market, is also making strides in perpetual futures, seeking regulatory approval for a never-expiring oil-linked futures contract. This move aims to bring a product popular in crypto markets into traditional energy, with the contract tied to the West Texas Intermediate benchmark. Kalshi had previously filed with regulators to launch perpetual contracts tied to equity indices and metals, and has also submitted filings for foreign exchange and interest-rate perpetuals.
