The Friedkin Group has officially completed its takeover of Everton Football Club, with its entity, Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited, acquiring a 98.8% majority stake. This transaction follows an agreement with Farhad Moshiri’s Blue Heaven Holdings and has received all required regulatory approvals from the Premier League Board, Women’s Professional Leagues Limited, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority. The deal marks the culmination of a lengthy takeover process that began over a year ago.
Dan Friedkin, chairman of The Friedkin Group, expressed his commitment to leading Everton into a new era, emphasizing the immediate priority of providing financial stability. He acknowledged that restoring the club to its rightful place in the Premier League will take time, but views the completion of the takeover as the first step. This acquisition follows a period where Everton's external debt had risen to approximately $600 million.
To facilitate the transaction and address financial obligations, Everton took proactive steps. This included increasing the club's share capital to convert outstanding debt owed to Blue Heaven Holdings into equity, which then allowed for additional equity investment from Roundhouse. The Friedkin Group had previously lent Moshiri $200 million to help cover stadium construction costs, a loan that gave TFG a charge over Blue Heaven Holdings.
