The London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) has launched the Digital Settlement House (DiSH), a blockchain-based platform for 24/7 settlement of tokenized commercial bank deposits across various currencies and networks. This new service, operating under LSEG's Post Trade Solutions division, allows for dynamic intraday liquidity and funding management, synchronized settlement, and risk reduction. It offers immediate ownership of deposits to members and facilitates instantaneous payments-versus-payment and delivery-versus-payment settlement, leveraging tokenized cash solutions on the blockchain.
In addition to DiSH, LSEG plans to build an on-chain settlement capability called the LSEG Digital Securities Depository (DSD), set to launch its first deliverable in 2026, subject to regulatory approval. This DSD aims to connect traditional and digital securities markets, enabling the trading and settlement of tokenized bonds, equities, and private market assets across multiple blockchain networks while ensuring interoperability with existing settlement platforms. LSEG anticipates that most bonds and eventually most securities will be tokenized, leading to greater transparency and efficiency in the market.
This move by LSEG builds upon its existing blockchain-based platform for private funds, powered by Microsoft Azure, which was launched in September 2025. The company is actively seeking strategic partners for the DSD, with Barclays, Brookfield, Lloyds, NatWest Markets, Standard Chartered, and State Street expressing support and interest in collaborating. This expansion into digital assets comes as LSEG faces pressure from activist investor Elliott Management to improve performance, following a significant decline in its share price over the past year.
