Ather Energy, an Indian electric vehicle manufacturer, has seen its stock price increase by 127.6% year-to-date in 2026, significantly outpacing global EV giants like Tesla and BYD. This surge has been attributed to several key developments, including strong financial performance, strategic product launches, and major institutional investments. The company's market capitalization reached approximately $8 billion (Rs 66,476.72 crore) on September 1, 2026.
The company reported robust financial results for Q1 FY27, with revenue soaring by 88.68% year-over-year to $146.4 million (Rs 1,217 crore) from $77.4 million (Rs 645 crore) in Q1 FY26. Concurrently, Ather Energy managed to significantly reduce its net loss by 71%, from $21.4 million (Rs 178 crore) in Q1 FY26 to $6.1 million (Rs 51 crore) in Q1 FY27. Wholesale volumes also saw an 81% increase year-over-year, reaching 83,173 units in Q1 FY27.
A significant catalyst for the stock's performance was the launch of its new mass-market scooter, the Ather Konarc, priced from $12,000 (Rs 99,999). This new model, aimed at a wider audience, expands Ather's product portfolio beyond premium offerings. The company also unveiled an advanced electronic braking system and other charging features at its annual Community Day. Analysts like Emkay Global and Nomura anticipate substantial sales volumes for the Konarc in FY27F and FY28F.
Further boosting investor confidence, BlackRock Global Funds acquired 2.59 million shares of Ather Energy for approximately $53.5 million (Rs 445.31 crore) at an average price of $206 (Rs 1,713.02) per share, representing a 0.65% stake. This investment highlights strong institutional interest in Ather and the broader electric two-wheeler market. Additionally, Hero MotoCorp increased its stake in Ather by 3% for up to $211.7 million (Rs 1,758 crore) just days prior. Brokerage firms like Emkay Global and Axis Capital have raised their price targets for Ather Energy, with Emkay Global setting a target of $265 (Rs 2,200) and Axis Capital at $253 (Rs 2,100), suggesting potential for further upside.
