Strategy, led by Michael Saylor, has recommenced its Bitcoin acquisition strategy by purchasing another 4,603 bitcoins for $369.7 million, pushing its total holdings to 845,050 BTC. This acquisition was made at an average price of $80,318 per coin, despite the company having sold approximately 7,000 BTC for about $432.5 million at an average price of $62,081 over the past two months, resulting in an estimated $84 million loss on these particular transactions.
The purchase was funded by selling 4,531,421 MSTR shares for $602.8 million in net proceeds. Of these proceeds, $369.7 million was allocated to Bitcoin, $151.8 million to repurchase 1,557,177 STRC preferred shares, $50.7 million for STRC dividends, and $30.0 million to increase its U.S. dollar cash account. As of August 30, 2026, Strategy now holds $6.71 billion in USD Assets and has achieved 0.0% net leverage, according to Saylor.
This latest move marks Strategy's first Bitcoin purchase since June 22, breaking a 10-week pause. Despite the reported losses on the recent sell-and-buyback cycle, the company's stock, MSTR, saw a positive reaction, putting it on track for its strongest monthly performance in 21 months, up 36%. The company continues to hold roughly 4% of Bitcoin's total supply, making it the largest publicly traded corporate holder of the cryptocurrency.
