This victory marks his 22nd PGA Tour win and his third of the current season, with two of those coming in the recent playoff events. His win at East Lake Golf Club solidified his standing as the world's number one golfer, answering any questions about his Player of the Year credentials despite only one regular-season win.
Scheffler's triumph also propelled him to the top of the PGA Tour's all-time career money list, surpassing Tiger Woods. His career earnings now stand at approximately $130.4 million, exceeding Woods' $120.9 million. Woods had held the top spot for nearly 26 years. This achievement places Scheffler in an elite group, joining Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only players to have won the FedEx Cup multiple times.
During the final round, Scheffler demonstrated exceptional play, including a precise 5-iron shot to within two inches of the cup on the second hole and a 25-foot birdie putt on the fourth to catch Hovland. He took the lead on the 13th hole and maintained it, despite facing tough conditions with wind and firm turf. Hovland, who finished second and earned $5 million, struggled with his putting, hitting the lip three times on the back nine, contributing to his two-over 72. Scheffler's consistent performance throughout the season, including five runner-up and 11 top-five finishes, underscored his dominance.
