Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's former defense minister, is actively seeking US and broader Western investment for a new defense technology fund, as reported by the Financial Times. The initiative aims to develop and manage weapons companies that would contribute to Ukraine's defense against Moscow.
Fedorov's post-government plans also include creating a venture fund focused on attracting Western capital for Ukrainian defense start-ups. His priorities for investment include affordable AI-powered missiles, robotizing the front lines, and deploying sensors to detect and neutralize enemy movements, aiming to reduce infantry exposure. He envisions saturating the battlefield with technology for reconnaissance and destruction of enemy forces.
In addition to the venture fund, Fedorov plans to establish a think tank dedicated to analyzing strategies for ending the war and defeating Russia. This organization will also generate policy ideas and develop visions for future stages of the conflict, with a focus on AI-related defense tech. He also intends to engage in civic activities promoting Ukraine's return to democracy and teach a university course on reforms.
