Former media executive John D. "Jack" Phillips has listed his 17-acre French Neoclassical estate, Woodbine, in Atlanta for $25 million. The property is located in the north Buckhead neighborhood, just west of Chastain Park. If sold near its asking price, it would be among the most expensive residential real estate transactions ever recorded in the region, surpassing a nearly $20 million sale in early 2024.
Phillips and his late wife, Cheryl, acquired the compound in 2008 for approximately $4 million. They subsequently completed the landscape design, adding crushed slate trails. Cheryl passed away in 2023, and Jack is planning to downsize and relocate to a smaller home in the city. The estate, originally built in the late 1990s for James and Case Richards by Cole & Cole Architects and Malone Construction Company, features extensive landscaping, including rose and cutting gardens, two greenhouses, horse stables (used by Phillips for storage), and three spring-fed lakes.
The limestone-clad manor, spanning roughly 15,000 square feet across three levels, boasts six bedrooms, eight full baths, and three powder rooms. Key features include a double-height foyer with dual cantilevered staircases, a living room with a hand-carved stone fireplace, a formal dining room with a crystal chandelier, and a primary suite with dual dressing rooms and baths.
