Holcim is reportedly in advanced discussions to acquire a portion of James Hardie's European business, specifically its Stone Materials segment. This potential divestiture comes as James Hardie looks to streamline its operations and concentrate on its core building products.
James Hardie's European operations generated $557 million in net sales in fiscal year 2026, representing a 13% increase from the previous year, with an EBITDA of $82.2 million, a 17% increase. The company has been focusing on expanding its fiber gypsum solutions, particularly with its fermacell brand, and increasing its presence in the renovation flooring market. The European segment also generated $494 million in revenue from Stone Materials in 2025.
This move aligns with James Hardie's broader strategy of optimizing its portfolio, which has included significant transformations like the July 2025 combination with The AZEK Company, creating a $5 billion exteriors and building materials leader. The company reported $4.8 billion in total company sales and $1.27 billion in Adjusted EBITDA for FY26, with the European business showing strong profitable growth despite challenging market conditions.
