In a video message shared on social media, Modi acknowledged the "crude and abusive language" used by some "mischievous children," which he noted included personal attacks and insults directed at his late mother.
Modi emphasized that while society might be outraged, with the language used by "daughters" causing a "cultural shock," punishing the youngsters or dragging them through court proceedings would not change the situation. He urged a compassionate approach, stating, "Now is the time to embrace these children and show them the right path. They have lost their way, and it is our duty to guide them." He used an analogy of biting one's tongue, saying that just as one wouldn't break their teeth in such a situation, these children, too, are part of society and deserve to be guided.
The Prime Minister expressed his personal desire to forgive the protesters and encouraged society to adopt a similar stance. He called for the youth to "move forward together for the sake of the country," learn from their mistakes, and pursue their dreams. This video message was his first explicit acknowledgment of the youth agitation that had led to significant protests and follows a period of parliamentary disruption related to police actions against the protesters.
