Former Federal Reserve Vice Chair Richard Clarida is working on a new music album, a follow-up to his 2016 release "Time No Changes." Clarida, who is currently a professor of economics at Columbia University and a managing director at PIMCO, confirmed he has been in the studio recording new tracks. However, he was tight-lipped about the album's release date or potential collaborations.
There is speculation regarding a collaboration with current Fed Chair Jerome Powell, especially after their 2018 holiday party performance of an acoustic medley. However, the new album's release faces a potential hurdle due to Clarida's status as a federal employee. Government employees are generally prohibited from earning outside income, which could force him to delay the album's launch.
Clarida's term on the Fed did not end until January 31, 2022, suggesting that if the album was recorded while he was still serving, its release could have been postponed until after his departure to avoid conflicts of interest. His previous album, "Time No Changes," released in March 2016, is available on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal. He also has a song titled "Just Can't Wait" available on YouTube.
