Hellman & Friedman, the private equity firm that owns TeamSystem, an Italian business software provider, is in discussions with potential buyers regarding a sale of a minority stake in the company. The proposed transaction could value TeamSystem at approximately €8 billion, including debt. This move comes as private equity firms increasingly seek to realize value from their portfolio companies through partial sales rather than full exits, especially in a market with fewer outright acquisition opportunities.
TeamSystem provides a range of software solutions, including accounting, ERP, invoicing, digital payments, HR and payroll, tax and regulatory compliance, and legal practice management. The company has a history of private equity backing, with HgCapital initially investing as a majority shareholder in 2010 before Hellman & Friedman acquired majority control in 2016. In October, HgCapital sold a minority stake to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and CapitalG.
The potential stake sale indicates continued investor interest in the resilient business software sector, particularly in European markets. TeamSystem has expanded its product portfolio into fintech and digital payments, and also has operations across multiple countries, serving millions of customers. The company has also made recent acquisitions, such as xtream and Reaidy, and expanded its European presence with acquisitions like Acd in France and Dia Yazılım in Turkey.
