French software giant Dassault Systèmes is in discussions to acquire ArisGlobal, a provider of software solutions for life sciences, from Nordic Capital for around $2 billion. This potential deal would mark Dassault Systèmes' second-largest acquisition, following its $5.8 billion takeover of Medidata Solutions in 2019, signifying a strategic move to bolster its presence in the life sciences sector.

ArisGlobal, founded in 1987 and headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, specializes in end-to-end SaaS software for the pharmaceutical drug development lifecycle, including pharmacovigilance, regulatory information management, and clinical data management. Its LifeSphere platform serves over 300 life sciences organizations, including 30 of the top 50 global biopharmaceutical companies and the U.S. FDA. Nordic Capital, a Stockholm-based private equity firm, acquired ArisGlobal in 2019 for approximately $700 million, and the company has since reported revenues of around €150 million as of 2025.

The acquisition would allow Dassault Systèmes, known for its 3D design and simulation software, to integrate ArisGlobal's regulatory, safety, and medical affairs software into its existing 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This expansion would provide a more comprehensive suite for clients, combining both the experimental and regulatory aspects of drug development. The move comes as Dassault Systèmes, which also provides software to industries like automotive and aerospace, increasingly leverages augmented AI and data centers for growth, especially amid a slowdown in the global auto industry.

While the talks are advanced, the transaction is not yet finalized and could still fall apart, according to sources familiar with the matter. If successful, the deal would further solidify Dassault Systèmes' position in the life sciences software market and represent a significant realization for Nordic Capital, one of the most active private equity investors in healthcare technology.
