Airbus has reportedly finalized deals for its A330neo jets with two airlines, Flynas and Condor, totaling a substantial number of aircraft orders as the Farnborough International Airshow concluded. These deals appear to have given Airbus a lead over its American rival Boeing in terms of order volumes at the event.
Saudi Arabian budget carrier Flynas committed to an outline order for a total of 160 Airbus jets, which includes 75 single-aisle A320neo aircraft and 15 A330neo widebody jets. Additionally, Flynas secured options for another 55 A320neos and 15 A330s. Deliveries of the new A330-900 aircraft, configured in a two-class layout for up to 400 passengers, are expected to commence in 2027. This order is a strategic move for Flynas, an all-Airbus operator, to enhance its long-haul capabilities and support Saudi Arabia's pilgrim program and broader tourism growth plans.
Separately, Germany's leisure airline Condor expanded its long-haul fleet with an order for four additional A330-900N aircraft, with an option for four more. This new order will bring Condor's total A330neo fleet to 25 by 2031. Condor, which recently completed its long-haul fleet renewal, stated that the A330neo's efficiency, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines capable of using up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), supports its growth trajectory and commitment to a consistent onboard product across intercontinental routes.
