Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, previously the chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi's $263 billion wealth fund ADQ, has taken on a new role as Executive Chairman and Managing Partner at Lunate. Lunate, established two years ago, is already the region’s largest alternatives manager with $115 billion in assets under management (AUM) and aims more than double its AUM over the next five years.

Alsuwaidi led ADQ for the past seven years, overseeing its growth and a tripling of its total assets to over $263 billion across key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and healthcare. His leadership also expanded ADQ's international footprint across six continents. Lunate's managing partners, Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Murtaza Hussain, and Seif Fikry, emphasized Alsuwaidi's proven ability to build at scale, attract global capital, and drive sustained growth as critical to Lunate's acceleration as a global investment firm.

Lunate has been a proactive dealmaker, forging partnerships with major financial entities. Notably, it acquired a minority stake in hedge fund Brevan Howard last year, coupled with a $2 billion commitment to one of its platforms. Additionally, Lunate partnered with alternative investment giant Blackstone to launch a $5 billion logistics-focused investment vehicle targeting the Gulf region.

The appointment of Alsuwaidi, an experienced sovereign wealth fund veteran, highlights Abu Dhabi's ambition to cultivate globally competitive investment platforms. His strategic guidance is expected to be instrumental in expanding Lunate's international presence, strengthening institutional capital relationships, and driving its next phase of growth across both private and public markets, solidifying its position as a leading global independent asset manager.
