The company's success is attributed to its "mixed-formation" strategy, where a manned lead truck guides multiple unmanned L4 driverless vehicles. An autonomous driving kit, costing around $90,000, can be amortized over five years, with a payback period as short as six months in some scenarios due to annual labor cost savings of approximately $200,000. For instance, on the Ordos to Baotou route, daily net efficiency increases by over $1,200, boosting annual gross profit by nearly $4 million per truck.
KargoBot recently secured a Series B financing round exceeding $100 million, reflecting investor confidence in the robotruck market's trillion-level potential. The company's strategic focus on trunk logistics, rather than the more complex Robotaxi environment, has facilitated faster commercialization and regulatory acceptance.
