Graham Platner, a Republican candidate vying for a seat in the Maine State Senate, has ceased his campaign activities. This decision comes in the wake of a sexual assault allegation made against him by a former intern for his campaign, as reported by the Portland Press Herald.
The 22-year-old intern, identified as Sarah Davis, publicly stated that Platner, aged 45, sexually assaulted her at his home in May 2026. Davis further claimed that after the alleged assault, Platner attempted to silence her by offering a payment of $10,000.
Platner has vehemently denied all accusations, labeling them as “baseless and politically motivated.” However, the Maine Republican Party leadership has called for a thorough investigation into the allegations.
