The annual Qatar Economic Forum, which was set to take place in Doha from May 12–14, 2026, has been postponed to a later date in the same year. This decision was made by Bloomberg Media and Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry in consultation with partners, citing ongoing developments in the Middle East as the reason for the delay. The forum aims to reconvene under conditions that will ensure strong international participation and a high-quality experience for all attendees.
The postponement follows widespread disruptions to regional events caused by the Iran war and increased geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East. At the end of February, Iran launched retaliatory attacks, specifically targeting US-affiliated bases and firms in the Gulf region, in response to actions by the US and Israel. This tension has directly impacted events like the Qatar Economic Forum, which attracts heads of state, policymakers, and business leaders globally.
Bloomberg Media CEO Karen Saltser emphasized the importance of flexibility in operating global convenings within a fast-moving geopolitical environment. She stated that the priority is to ensure the forum continues to deliver the expected level of participation, access, and conversation. New dates for the sixth edition of the event, along with an updated program, will be confirmed in due course. Complementary global programming and advisory council initiatives supporting the Forum's mission will continue in the interim.
