Kavi Gupta has been appointed as the Head of FICC Trading, Americas, at BNP Paribas. This strategic hire follows Gupta's recent tenure as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Jain Global from June 2025 to May 2026. His experience also includes over six years as a Managing Director at Bank of America between April 2018 and May 2024, where he held various leadership roles such as Head of Global Rates Trading and Counterparty Portfolio Management, and Head of Global Markets Trading Analytics.
This appointment is a notable step in BNP Paribas's continuous efforts to bolster its Global Markets platform in the Americas. Kunal Maini, who previously held the role of Head of FICC Trading, Americas, at BNP Paribas since August 2025, will now be transitioning to a new leadership position within the bank. Maini had joined BNP Paribas in July 2022 as Managing Director, Co-Head Macro Americas, coming from Morgan Stanley where he was Global Head of Government Bond, Inflation and E-Trading.
Gupta's background encompasses extensive expertise in fixed income and global macro strategies. His move from Jain Global, where he focused on fixed income and global macro, aligns with BNP Paribas's stated ambition to grow its Global Equities, Global Credit, and Global Macro franchises in the Americas. This reflects a broader trend of significant executive appointments within BNP Paribas's Global Markets Americas division, aimed at enhancing client offerings and expanding market presence.
Other notable appointments at BNP Paribas in recent years include John Hanisch as Co-Head of Secondary Credit Americas and Global Head of Securitized Products Trading, Charlie Shah as Head of IG & CDS Trading Americas, and Bo Bazylevsky as Head of Flow Credit Trading. John Gallo, Head of Global Markets Americas, has emphasized the enormous opportunity to develop client relationships across the bank's Corporate and Institutional Banking division, with these hires underscoring a commitment to strengthen the bank's position as a leading European financial institution globally.
