The Private Department of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, a firm associated with Abu Dhabi's royal family, has committed to investing $1.13 billion in MidOcean Energy. This investment is part of MidOcean's equity capital raise and marks a significant contribution to the LNG company formed and managed by EIG Global Energy Partners.
In conjunction with the investment, the Private Department and EIG have established a strategic partnership. This collaboration will focus on capital aggregation, originating new investment opportunities, and developing institutional investment avenues within the energy sector.
MidOcean Energy, which recently secured $500 million from Saudi Aramco and is in talks to join an Argentinian LNG project, has been actively expanding its portfolio. It also acquired stakes in Australian LNG projects from Japan's Jera. The company is pursuing a goal to raise up to $2 billion from new investors to build a diversified and resilient global LNG platform.
