Syntiant Corp., an Irvine-based semiconductor and AI computing company, is targeting an initial public offering in early 2027. The company, founded in 2017, has achieved annual revenues in the hundreds of millions of dollars and is experiencing strong growth in both revenue and profit margins. Its technology is notably used in Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant, and the company showcased its latest voice-activated and audio products, including those for smart eyeglasses and TV remote controls, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.

Syntiant's path to an IPO has been strategically planned from its inception, with most of its management team having prior experience as officers of public companies. A key step in this direction was the hiring of Ron Shelton as CFO last June, an executive with a track record of managing billions of dollars in transactions, including multiple IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions. Shelton's previous roles include CFO positions at Navitas Semiconductor Corp. (with a $2.2 billion market cap) and Cirrus Logic Inc. (with a $6.3 billion market cap), as well as Adesto Technologies, which had an enterprise value of $500 million when acquired.

The company is well-positioned for its public debut, with CEO Kurt Busch stating that Syntiant is "in very good shape to be a public company today." While the early 2027 timeframe is a target, the exact timing will depend on market conditions. Syntiant employs approximately 1,500 people, with 37 based in Orange County. A successful IPO would place Syntiant alongside other prominent Orange County semiconductor firms like Skyworks Solutions and Broadcom Inc.

Syntiant's technology focuses on bringing AI to edge devices, particularly for speech, audio, and sensor processing with ultra-low power consumption. The company announced a collaboration with Partron on July 6, 2026, to develop on-sensor AI solutions for healthcare (wearable biosensors), robotics (intelligent sensing modules), and automotive applications (tire monitoring). This partnership aims to integrate Syntiant's Neural Decision Processors™ and AI models with Partron's sensor module design and manufacturing expertise to enable real-time decision-making at the point of data capture.
