Historically, US investors found it challenging to invest in SK Hynix, often resorting to unsponsored ADRs with limited liquidity. The Nasdaq listing is expected to dramatically improve liquidity and enable American investors to participate more easily in the company's growth, benefiting from the soaring demand for AI memory chips that has driven the performance of companies like Micron, which saw a 242% gain this year.
The listing is not only about raising capital but also strategically positioning SK Hynix in the competitive global market for AI computing memory chips, leveraging the current "extreme enthusiasm about chip stocks."
