Genneia S.A., Argentina's leading independent renewable power producer, officially filed an F-1 for an initial public offering (IPO) of Class B shares, including American Depositary Shares (ADSs), in the United States. The company plans to list its ADSs on the NYSE under the ticker symbol GENN, and its Class B shares on Argentina's BYMA. This IPO is significant as it represents the first U.S. listing from an Argentine company since 2019, potentially opening a new financing window for Argentine firms following President Javier Milei's election.
The proceeds from the IPO are earmarked for general corporate purposes, including the expansion of Genneia's wind, solar, and storage portfolio, as well as potential acquisitions within Argentina. The company boasts a significant operational capacity, owning and operating 2,128 MW of gross installed capacity, comprising 1,765 MW of wind and solar energy, and 363 MW from thermal peaking plants. This portfolio is strategically located in high-quality resource corridors such as Patagonia and Buenos Aires for wind, and San Juan and Mendoza for solar. Their assets are supported by long-term, U.S. dollar-denominated Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) under various government programs and private contracts.
Genneia's financial highlights for the LTM ended March 31, 2026, include revenues of $376.8 million and a net income of $97.2 million. In 2025, the company reported revenues of $361.3 million, marking a 16.1% year-over-year growth from $311.1 million in 2024. Their gross profit in 2025 stood at $220.4 million, representing a healthy 61.0% margin. The company's business model is a full-cycle, develop-to-own and operate approach, emphasizing project origination, standardized construction, and 24/7 operations with predictive maintenance. Nearly all of its revenues are contracted in U.S. dollars.
The visible growth pipeline for Genneia includes projects under construction (26 GW with 40 MW BESS), 175 MW ready-to-build, and an extensive development pipeline exceeding 4.9 GW across various stages. This includes a consortium with Pan American Energy that has a 577 MW wind project under construction, targeting completion in 2027. The IPO is co-led by Morgan Stanley, BTG Pactual, BofA Securities, J.P. Morgan, and Latin Securities.
The potential for new U.S. equity offerings from Argentina has been noted by analysts, with a handful of companies in the banking and energy sectors reportedly also preparing for U.S. debuts or follow-on sales. This follows a period of limited Argentine corporate access to global capital markets, contrasting with the previous business-friendly agenda under Mauricio Macri's government before an economic crisis closed the door to such financing.
