Bob Dylan's former Harlem townhouse at 265 West 139th Street, part of the historically significant Strivers’ Row, has entered into contract after a price reduction. The property was initially listed for $3 million in August 2025 and saw a $250,000 discount last month, bringing its asking price to $2.75 million. The final sale price and the identity of the new owners have not yet been disclosed.
Current sellers Isam Salah, a lawyer, and Elaina Richardson, former editor-in-chief of Elle magazine and recently head of the Yaddo artist retreat, purchased the home in 2018 for $3.17 million. They informed The Wall Street Journal in August that the reduced price better aligned with the high-end townhouse market in the area. Richardson recently stepped down from her 25-year tenure leading Yaddo.
Dylan owned the five-story, 4,500-square-foot Renaissance Revival townhouse from 1986 to 2000, selling it for $560,000. Designed by the architectural firm Stanford White (or McKim, Mead & White) in 1893, the home features six original fireplaces and has been updated with modern amenities like soundproofed windows and a contemporary chef's kitchen, while preserving original elements such as a four-foot-tall safe now used as a bar.
