Stellantis NV and Nissan Motor Co. are currently negotiating to purchase some assets from Marelli Holdings Co., an automotive-parts supplier facing a challenging bankruptcy reorganization. Stellantis is reportedly focused on acquiring Marelli's suspensions business in Italy and select other countries. Meanwhile, Nissan is looking into Marelli's cockpit assets located in Japan.

These discussions are taking place amidst Marelli's bankruptcy proceedings. The company, created in 2019, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States in June [2025], citing global trade wars and tariffs on the automotive industry as key factors affecting its liquidity. Marelli is owned by private equity firm KKR, and the bankruptcy filing indicated a shift in ownership to a consortium of lenders.

Marelli, a significant supplier to both Nissan and Stellantis (among others), had faced declining demand from these former parent companies, resulting in substantial unsecured claims. According to previous reports, Marelli owed Stellantis $454 million and Nissan $313 million in unsecured claims, totaling $767 million recognized during its bankruptcy. The ongoing talks represent an effort to rescue parts of the troubled supplier's operations.
