America250, the nonpartisan organization tasked by Congress with leading the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, has launched a new national music collection called "America's Soundtrack." The initiative aims to connect Americans through shared cultural language—music—leading up to the Semiquincentennial. The project is executive produced by multi-Grammy Award winner Emilio Estefan.
The initial release features three distinct works reflecting the breadth of American musical tradition. These include "America" by Gloria and Emilio Estefan, now widely available for the first time since its 2015 introduction; "American Promise," a newly commissioned orchestral piece by composer Karen LeFrak; and a powerful choral rendition of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" performed by The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. All three tracks are currently streaming on YouTube at youtube.com/america250.
"America" expresses the Estefans' gratitude for the freedoms and opportunities in the United States. "American Promise," commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra, is described as a musical portrait of unity and faith in the American dream, with its world premiere by the Miami Symphony Orchestra on March 8. The Tabernacle Choir's performance of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" underscores music's role in uniting the nation. Future releases for America's Soundtrack will feature a genre-spanning collection including pop, rock, and more, with additional artists and tracks to be announced throughout 2026, leading up to America250’s Fourth of July programming.
