His move follows closely after Noam Shazeer, a co-lead of Google's Gemini AI models and DeepMind's Vice President of Engineering, also left the company for OpenAI. Jumper's exit further strains Google's efforts to compete with Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX in the race to develop the most powerful AI models. Bloomberg reported that Google has faced challenges in selling AI coding tools to businesses, an area where Anthropic and OpenAI have gained momentum. Analyst Gil Luria of D.A.
