Calvin Klein has made two significant Hamptons real estate sales in recent years. In March 2020, he sold his Southampton Village oceanfront estate for $84.4 million to billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin. This property was particularly notable because Klein had razed a historic mansion known as "Dragon's Head" that was originally on the site to construct a modern, minimalist home.
Then, in May 2021, Klein quietly sold another East Hampton Village oceanfront estate for a combined $85 million. This sale involved two separate parcels near Georgica Pond; a 6.8-acre parcel with the residence sold for $75 million, while a vacant adjacent 1.63-acre property went for $10 million, according to Suffolk County deed transfers. This $75 million sale was the most expensive in 2021 at the time it was reported.
The East Hampton property, an 1800s-era estate, was initially purchased by Klein in 1987 for $3.6 million. Although its sale price matched that of his Southampton estate, these were distinct transactions involving different properties. The East Hampton estate, which his ex-wife Kelly Klein had lived in post-divorce, was not publicly listed for sale, similar to the Southampton deal.
